Potato Casserole (funeral potatoes)

I originally got this recipe from a dear friend that all
of us admire-Marge Merrill

1 large pkg. shredded potatoes
2 cans cream of chicken soup
2 cans cream of mushroom soup
1/4 cup dried onion
1 cup sour cream
1 1/2 cups shredded cheese, divided

Mix together all ingredients, (except 1/2 cup shredded cheese)
put in a 13"x 9" casserole dish. Sprinkle remaining cheese on top.
Add crushed potato chips on top.

Bake at 350 oven for 45 minutes.
